The project week is prepared and carried out by DOSB-licensed trainers of Boxgirls Berlin e.V. and BA and MA students from the Freie Universität Berlin, Department of Education and Psychology. For evaluation and research, we also cooperate closely with researchers at the Freie Universität Berlin.
The initiator of Sicher im Kiez!, Prof. Heather Cameron, is an Assistant Professor of Education at the Freie Universität Berlin and an Associate Professor Extraordinarius at the University of the Western Cape in South Africa. Her research merges practical experience with theory, examining questions of social innovation and social entrepreneurship, quality management in social projects, and how sport can be used for social change projects, especially in terms of leading to greater social and economic participation of girls and women. For her innovative work as a social entrepreneur, Prof. Cameron was selected as an Ashoka Fellow in 2010.
Josef Hofman studied social work in Münster and is currently working towards his MA in education with a focus on research and development at the Freie Universität Berlin. He is an experienced group leader and project developer for issues of media pedagogy and juvenile delinquency support. He has been working as a Sicher im Kiez! project coordinator since February 2011.
